This is lovely. First thing I thought was "Macaw" with the tail. My in-laws have a Catalina. ^^ The feet look amazing, the colors and body seem great. The only thing I wonder about is the texturing. It looks more fur compared to short feathers. Over all it is gorgeous.
You're very welcome! I was all "OMG" when I read that it was a Macaw indeed. Score a point for the daughter in law knowing the family pet ya know? lol Awesome. The only reason I mentioned the texture was because she let me pet her chest feathers, then wanted me to scritch beneath them tonight. It's rare without her taking a nip. lol So I had paid close attention. Really though, very lovely. You sure those are weaknesses? ^^
Haha! Yes! I'm really happy you guessed right. And yes, I know what you mean about the texture and agree. Thank you once again for your kind words ^^ Oh definitely. I don't draw birds at all really and the female form has always been a challenge.
Wow I love your technique here! Again, like I said for another deviation of yours: LOVE love love the usage of color. I especially like how you created a heavier contrast between your Macaw woman and the background using different/darker colors. May I ask what medium you used specifically? Color pencils I'm guessing?
Thank you so much! Colours usually confuse and frustrate me so I avoid them but I'm so happy my efforts seem to have yielded some reward. Its just some Crayola pencils. Nothing fancy. I did use a thin pen to line the drawing.
He was very hand-shy, he spent years inside a cage without much interaction before our shop took him in. but not aggressive at all He would get on hads but people made him very nervous and he wobbled uncertainly, like he might fall so you had to place a thumb over his feet to hold him fast.
He's a cutie, I miss him something awful, he's back at the pet shop I used to work at on the other side of the country. He's a permanent store bird there, belonging to the owners, but he's got a severe macaw buddy he hangs out with to keep him company
You really did a great job at mixing the femalebody with the animal. I have nothing to critique at your way of drawing females. It's wished, that the shoulders and neck are too wide for a female, I guess? But the quality of the colouring is mixed. At the head, it's stunning, but at the legs and tail it fades. Keep going! : D
Thank you so much! I'm still working on improving female anatomy and I see what you pointed out. As for the colouring, I'm honoured that you find it good. And as for the legs and tail, do you mean the quality fades?
Hey, you're not honoured it's the least you deserve^^ The colour, it is faded and blurred. At the head, the lines are clear, at the feet the contrast between the backround and the skin is rather fuzzy.
